It’s been some time since we featured some night shots, so we’re long overdue. I really enjoy shooting at night and since I have the optically stabilized lens I can usually get good results in low-lighting conditions.
This is a food area, with lots of places to eat. We found a place and had dinner (but I didn’t take any photos of the food).

I took this photo (or should I say the camera took it automatically) while out on a lunchtime ride yesterday. I like the fisheye effect a lot. Also, you can see me with my helmet cam if you look hard enough.

By now all our readers know that I enjoy riding, especially the recumbent trike. I’ve taken lots of photos and done ride reports using my Nikon D80. But I’ve been looking for a camera specifically designed to capture action for activites such as rides, and I’ve found such a camera – the Gopro Helmet Hero WIDE angle.
The Helmet Hero comes in an impressive package with a clear plastic case on top.

This evening I went up to the roof because evenings have been nice and cool recently. My jaw dropped when I saw the lights coming from the Taiwan Straight:
This shot is facing west and except for a few kilometers of land in front of me, there is nothing there except the Taiwan Straight and eventually, China.
This isn’t the first time that I’ve seen strange light beams like this in Taiwan.

Readers of our blog sometimes complain to us privately that when they travel, they are disappointed with their photographs. Then, they usually ask me for some advice on which camera they should buy so they can take better photographs. On our last day in Thailand, we got up very early in the morning to catch the first flight out of Khonkaen to Bangkok. We had to take a cab from the old airport, which is now the domestic airport, to the new airport – the one with the unpronouncable name.
This is the departure level at Bangkok’s international airport. We were getting ready to check in when we ran across this interesting service:

Hui-chen and I took the THSR to visit an old friend who came to Taiwan and was staying in Taichung. It was evening when we made our way up to the platform. These are photos I took of the mountains surrounding Jubei.

On our first night back in Thailand, Hui-chen and I took a walk around at night and I took some night shots – my favorite photographic work (besides shooting models).

This morning I was awakened by the sound of a jet flying very low past our home. The sound set off car alarms and rattled our windows, and in my semi-sleep state, I braced for a bomb – which never fell, fortunately!
After hearing at least 2 jets pass by several times, I ran up to the roof with my camera and I saw this:
