Before we continue with our series, I would like to talk about the series and how I’ve written it.  First of all, I updated the Wordpress In-series plug-in and it blew out all the previous series data.  I am unable to re-enter that information and get the updated plug-in to work and actually display series.  This means that all those series I wrote in the past are unconnected.  The articles are still there, but as in this series, there is no longer a list of them at the bottom so you can find all of them.  Sorry but you’ll have to use the search box at the upper right.  I didn’t do it!  UPDATE: I fixed it by creating a new series and editing the previous articles.  I do not want to have to do that for each series I’ve written!

Also, on these series that are not time-sensitive, I’ve been taking my sweet time writing about them.  That certainly is the case with this series, which I have written over many months time.  Also, in some cases I had to think about what I wanted to write about (even though I do outlines) and I also have other things to do.  So that explains why I often write about things that happened some time ago.  Honestly, it just doesn’t matter.

Now, onto the current article: We have some interesting things for you, so sit back and enjoy!

It had been 1 year, 7 months since we were there last.  As our tuk-tuk pulled up at the resort, the old black dog I call “Shao hei” came running over to us.  Auntie and Uncle both gave us a hearty welcome.  Yes, we were back at the Sabua Resort in Muan Phon, Thailand, and we couldn’t be happier!

We took a bus from Khonkaen bus station and headed down to Muang Phon.  Look at all the garlands and other artifacts the driver had on the front of the bus:

You know us.  We love to party.  This weekend was no exception.  The weather is turning cooler and the few degrees difference makes it all the more comfortable walking around in the daylight.  Blogger Andres and his lovely wife Karen and cute baby Olivia joined us for some fun in Part I.

We’ve seen signs for the Nan Garden many times around the area and we’ve always wanted to check it out.  So, today was the day.

We admit it.  We love going to the cabin in Miaoli.  We went back on Saturday but this time we introduced some friends to Becky’s family and their very cool place to relax.  Here’s the story:

Saturday in Miaoli

The day began with me preparing the Dutch oven for some camp fare.  These are boneless beef ribs that I’m taking out of the package.  The Dutch oven is hot and ready to go.

It’s been awhile since we had a visit to our local night market on Monday evenings, so this time I took my Nikon along with me.

Many of you might remember last year’s Ghost Month activites in our neighborhood.  I spent most of my time at Shao-hui’s place.

Many of you remember my last cooking experiment - the one I did while in the US on our recent trip.  Upon our return to Taiwan, I decided to give it a go again and see what would happen with a few refinements.

UPDATE: I’ve added some video to the end of the article.

It was another great weekend in Taiwan.  The weather let up on us a bit and it got something approaching cooler.  So, when Becky invited us up to their cabin in Miaoli, well we knew it was a great time in the making!

Weekend In Miaoli

The ride up was spectacular as we took the mountain road that comes up behind the cabin.  We brought our friend Ed with us and he’s very well traveled.  His comment is that he’d never been on a road like that one before and the mountain view was one of the top things he’s ever seen.  We agree!  Taiwan is incredible but you have to get out of Taipei to find out.
