Day five of my Thailand visit was rather uneventful.  I had some time to kill waiting for Mr. Somkhit to become available the next day.  I wanted to do something but I also wanted to not spend a lot of time traveling and I was sick of buses by this time.  So, I walked around Khonkaen.

First thing in the morning, Oath and his girlfriend took me to a noodle shop in Udon Thani before taking me to the bus station for my trip back to Khonkaen.

I was having so much fun in Chonburi that I honestly didn’t want to leave, but this was my last day nevertheless.  It began with A-nune and Elle picking me up at my room,

and then us heading to a famous temple.

Recently I went to Thailand on business to pick up some tools at a factory in the Isaan area.  Fortunately for me, I had time to enjoy myself while there and having my new D7000, I took lots of photos.  Speaking of which, please bear with me in this first installment about my trip, as I have been adjusting the D7000 to optimize it for the look that I want.  Initially, I had the colors jacked up too high and occasionally it made for some cartoonish photos.  But I soon found where the settings want to be and I’ve been shooting it that way since.  So without further delay, please enjoy this first installment in my 2012 Thailand trip!

Thailand 2012, Day One

We start off at Taoyuan International Airport, which is currently under construction to renovate Terminal 1, where my flight originated.  This strange roof cover seems to be completed now and I didn’t recognize the terminal when my taxi drove up to it.

Of course, we wish you could have attended!

Goodbye Jim!

We had another grill party get-together this weekend, to say goodbye to long time Taiwan blogger, Jim Boyden, aka Sponge Bear, aka Kaminoge, aka A Curmudgeon Abroad.  Jim and his family are leaving Taiwan rather suddenly because of an unexpected job offer in the USA.  The truth is, I’ve never met Jim before (even though we’ve both been here for some time) and I didn’t want him to leave without meeting at least once.  Our friend Michael Turton drove up with Jim and we met at Xiao-hui’s place for some grilled fare.

New Home Gym

Regular readers of our blog will no doubt recall that last year, we got this home gym, and I started using it on the first week of May, 2011.  This machine has been fantastic, and I can say that in the year I’ve been using it, there has been a big difference in how I feel.  I have more energy and certainly more strength.  When I have to move a piece of equipment or some packages, I have a lot more strength and endurance.  This is all 100% positive.  But, with all the good this home gym has done me, I haven’t lost any weight to speak of.

Recently my brother John visited Taiwan, but we weren’t able to blog on his visit in real time due to a couple of technical difficulties that are now resolved.  So, without further delay, we bring you installment #1 of his visit!
