  • The Blog

TheNHBushman.com is an outgrowth of, and the next logical step for, The NH Bushman In Taiwan and The World, a personal blog run by MJ Klein (aka The New Hampshire Bushman) and his lovely wife Hui-chen for more than 5 years. The blog primarily features photographs of travels of MJ and Hui-chen plus daily goings on in the bustling island nation of Taiwan, and other places in Asia. Articles feature people, culture, food, situations and sometimes the trials and tribulations of traveling in China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Laos and of course Taiwan. But so much more than a blog, TheNHBushman.com was created to provide you with hours of interactive entertainment.

Based on a hosted WordPress platform, a rich unique feature set makes your visit an enjoyable, interactive experience.

The original flickr badge, with the original blog URL….

I was a field engineer for years. “Bushman” as been a nickname that I acquired because of my work and my love of the outdoors. I used to live in New Hampshire, so I was referred to as “The New Hampshire Bushman.” I am known throughout the online world as thenhbushman. Now we have the new domain and this new site. We hope you enjoy reading about our lives and travels.

I was a manufacturing engineer in the US, and I introduced digital photography to many companies for use in their formal procedure documentation. I purchased my first digital camera in 1998. These days I use a Nikon D80 with a Sigma 18~200mm OS lens for primary photography. I normally shoot for the blog and have a flickr.com pro account. My favorite style of photography is glamor/semi-nude but I haven’t done very much of that kind of photography in Taiwan at the present. I’m afraid that almost all of my photographs have a documentary feel to them. I’m not sure if you could call them artistic or not. I am also a licensed broadcast engineer and hold the US GROL, as well as the US Amateur Extra Class (ham) radio license.

I live in Taiwan with my wife Hui-chen. We run a manufacturing outsourcing agency, and in the course of our business activities we travel to many interesting places. This blog is about our life in Taiwan and our travels. We take thousands of photographs and if you like photos then this blog is for you!

  • Hui-chen

People refer to her as “Michael’s wonderful wife.” She is. We met in early 2005 and were married  April 28, 2007. I remember like it was yesterday.

That was the most amazing day of my life. I’ve never seen a more beautiful bride.

Hui-chen likes hiking, and she likes to go places with me and do most of the things that I like to do.

Hiking in the mountains of Taipei

Geocaching in Taichung

Singing karaoke in Taoyuan

Just being her kind, gentle self, in Khonkaen Thailand.

Hui-chen is a professional accountant by trade and has worked for major companies like Deloitte & Touche where she held the position of Auditor, and she has valuable knowledge of Taiwan’s complicated tax codes. We work together in our own outsourcing and trading company, and I couldn’t do it without her.

I love it when she wears traditional clothing, but she doesn’t like it herself. I can’t understand why when she looks so lovely.

Fluent in Mandarin, Taiwanese and English, Hui-chen and I have traveled extensively throughout Taiwan, and also China, Hong Kong, USA, Thailand and Laos. She also loves taking photos while we travel but is shy about posting them for others to see. Hui-chen declines to comment directly on our blog but she gives me her thoughts and insights and I incorporate them into my articles. You will find many photos of her in my articles about these places, and my travels just wouldn’t be the same without her.

In fact, I can’t imagine my life without her.
