Thailand 2012, Day Seven
Photos by MJ Klein – with FOOD PHOTOS!
This was my last full day in Thailand on this trip. I did not want to ride the motorcycle down to Phon, rent a car or take the bus. So I decided to ride the train.

Day five of my Thailand visit was rather uneventful. I had some time to kill waiting for Mr. Somkhit to become available the next day. I wanted to do something but I also wanted to not spend a lot of time traveling and I was sick of buses by this time. So, I walked around Khonkaen.
First thing in the morning, Oath and his girlfriend took me to a noodle shop in Udon Thani before taking me to the bus station for my trip back to Khonkaen.

Recently, our friends at the Wild West Chophouse asked me to shoot some photos for their new menu. When I shoot important stuff (i.e. for someone else and not for the blog) I shoot in raw file mode. It turns out that they didn’t use the raw files at all, but the jpegs (I shot both at the same time). I took the raw files and dressed them up a bit in Lightroom. Knowing how much our readers love food photos, I thought I should post these. So, here they are!
The new menu features a roast beef platter, cooked rare in this shot.

This installment of TWIF is a combination of camera-rendered jpegs, and Lightroom manipulated Nikon raw files, as I am experimenting with shooting raw. It’s somewhat overkill for doing web work like our blog, but I’m having fun getting into the development aspect as I started out when I was 17 shooting Kodak tri-ex B&W film and making prints in my own darkroom. At any rate, enough of that and onto the photos!
Our regular readers will probably recognize this shot from downtown Hukou, where I went one day for lunch (before departing for Kaohsiung for the birth of our baby).

Day four of my Thailand trip began very early, as I had a morning flight to Khonkaen. I did not take out my D7000 for the duration of the flight. So my first shot of the day was taken with my mobile phone as I exited the plane and walked toward the terminal building:

I was having so much fun in Chonburi that I honestly didn’t want to leave, but this was my last day nevertheless. It began with A-nune and Elle picking me up at my room,
and then us heading to a famous temple.

Bright and early the next day, Mr. Nom picked me up in his Toyota pickup truck. We were going to meet Oath at a nearby restaurant.

Recently I went to Thailand on business to pick up some tools at a factory in the Isaan area. Fortunately for me, I had time to enjoy myself while there and having my new D7000, I took lots of photos. Speaking of which, please bear with me in this first installment about my trip, as I have been adjusting the D7000 to optimize it for the look that I want. Initially, I had the colors jacked up too high and occasionally it made for some cartoonish photos. But I soon found where the settings want to be and I’ve been shooting it that way since. So without further delay, please enjoy this first installment in my 2012 Thailand trip!
We start off at Taoyuan International Airport, which is currently under construction to renovate Terminal 1, where my flight originated. This strange roof cover seems to be completed now and I didn’t recognize the terminal when my taxi drove up to it.

This week was fun because I’ve been testing out the new camera. I don’t quite have things tweaked just the way I want them, but I’m getting close. Let’s take a look at some food we had this week, Nikon D7000 style!
Beef fried rice.

The Wild West Block Party was a success! While not overwhelmingly attended, a good amount of people came by and enjoyed the beer and steak specials.
Of course, we wish you could have attended!
