Thailand 2012, Day Seven
Photos by MJ Klein – with FOOD PHOTOS!
This was my last full day in Thailand on this trip. I did not want to ride the motorcycle down to Phon, rent a car or take the bus. So I decided to ride the train.

Day six was mostly a waiting game for me. I was waiting for the factory boss (Mr. Somkhit) down in Phon to be free to see me. But that wouldn’t happen until the next day. I also didn’t want to spend a lot of money on transportation such as renting a car like I’ve done a few times before. In addition to that, I’d pretty much had my fill of traveling by bus, so it looked like I would be spending the day in Khonkaen, walking around and taking photos.
Before I forget, let me mention that I was using a new camera, and I had some trouble framing shots that aren’t tilted a bit. Please overlook that problem when viewing these photos! I got better as I used the camera more.

Day five of my Thailand visit was rather uneventful. I had some time to kill waiting for Mr. Somkhit to become available the next day. I wanted to do something but I also wanted to not spend a lot of time traveling and I was sick of buses by this time. So, I walked around Khonkaen.
First thing in the morning, Oath and his girlfriend took me to a noodle shop in Udon Thani before taking me to the bus station for my trip back to Khonkaen.

Day four of my Thailand trip began very early, as I had a morning flight to Khonkaen. I did not take out my D7000 for the duration of the flight. So my first shot of the day was taken with my mobile phone as I exited the plane and walked toward the terminal building:

I was having so much fun in Chonburi that I honestly didn’t want to leave, but this was my last day nevertheless. It began with A-nune and Elle picking me up at my room,
and then us heading to a famous temple.

Bright and early the next day, Mr. Nom picked me up in his Toyota pickup truck. We were going to meet Oath at a nearby restaurant.

Recently I went to Thailand on business to pick up some tools at a factory in the Isaan area. Fortunately for me, I had time to enjoy myself while there and having my new D7000, I took lots of photos. Speaking of which, please bear with me in this first installment about my trip, as I have been adjusting the D7000 to optimize it for the look that I want. Initially, I had the colors jacked up too high and occasionally it made for some cartoonish photos. But I soon found where the settings want to be and I’ve been shooting it that way since. So without further delay, please enjoy this first installment in my 2012 Thailand trip!
We start off at Taoyuan International Airport, which is currently under construction to renovate Terminal 1, where my flight originated. This strange roof cover seems to be completed now and I didn’t recognize the terminal when my taxi drove up to it.

By now, everyone knows that we have a new camera – the Nikon D7000. What most people do not know is that I just returned from a week long business trip to Thailand. It was dark when we flew into Taiwan, but I was able to get some photos out the window. So, here they are, thanks to the engineers at Nikon and their wonderful creation, the D7000:
This was my first view of Kaohsiung as we approached Taiwan from the South-East.

It took me some time, but I finally got around to looking at all John’s photos and choosing some interesting examples of what a visitor might find interesting. So, here we go!
The first shot was taken at Xiao-hui’s. That’s her on the right. Look at all the dishes!

This is the last installment of this series. We took John on a quick trip to Taipei 101 and Yinge.
John tells me that the state of Florida is considering a high-speed rail project, and he would like to see it happen. Naturally we had to take him for a ride on the THSR.
