After exploring the sights in Maine, Hui-chen and I awoke to perfect weather for traveling back to New Hampshire. We headed out Route 302 from Maine into New Hampshire and went through those beautiful small towns along the way. The country side was absolutely beautiful!

After taking a day off from traveling, Hui-chen and I headed up east to the state of Maine.
We crossed over this bridge into a new state for Hui-chen. I’ve been to Maine several times and all up and down the state, but even though we couldn’t spend much time there, I did want to show her a few things from this lovely state.

Day 3 found us up early and in the beautiful seacoast town of Gloucester, Massachusetts. The weather was perfect for what we had in mind that day. We began with a little ride around the town to see what it looked like, this being Hui-chen’s first time here.

We awoke to a gorgeous day with a stunning sky. We found ourselves on Route 9 in the Framingham area of Massachusetts. First order of business was food. Hui-chen and I decided to try a Chinese restaurant on Rt. 9 called The Red Pepper.

I hadn’t been back to New England in 6 years. Hui-chen had never been there before. So it was an epic trip to the northeast part of the USA!
The first thing that I noticed is that the Big Dig is finally all finished and the old overhead expressway is gone!

I used to have a wood smoker back in New Hampshire, and I have missed smoking foods in Taiwan (although I do have a smoker in Thailand). We went in halves with my sister and her husband and picked up this Brinkmann smoker at Home Depot. I got to use it quite a few times during our visit. We’ll show you what we put in the smoker shortly.

Hui-chen and I headed back to the US recently to visit our family there. We went a bit later in the year than we have in the past, so our flights were different (and also because Delta has merged with Northwest) and so was the trip routing. By the way, if you haven’t seen the series on our 2008 trip, you may find the first installment here.
Last time we left Taiwan and went through Japan and then onto the USA. This time, we went in the opposite direction: Hong Kong.

We’ve just returned from a whirlwind trip to the USA! We’re ready to bring you the story of where we went, what we did, what we saw and what we ate! But before we get into the first installment of our trip I want to ask our readers for their opinion of how we should format the articles.
