I never expected to get so many comments about Cabela’s but we sure did. The fact is, Hui-chen and I didn’t get enough of the place so we went back there on our way out of town!

On our little trip to Wulai, we’ve seen that there is a lot more to the place than simply the waterfall for which it is famous. Wulai has hot springs, a river that is used for bathing, a downtown shopping area and an historical passenger railroad, in addition to the waterfall. Also many people don’t realize that you can see several other waterfalls within a few kilometers of Wulai. There are some excellent trails in the area for hiking.

Beautiful Wulai

We’re going to take a look at a few things on the way down to the waterfall. One of them is another shot of what’s been called “the cutest little train” the Log Cart.

Tourist Night Market, Kaohsiung
Hui-chen and I were in Kaohsiung for Chinese New Year. We decided to go to the Liuhe tourist night market for dinner. After finding this huge crowd, we decided to pass on dinner there!

So, how busy was your Chinese New Year?

Hui-chen’s sister Ping-chen came over Saturday evening, and we took her to Laohukou Old Street area on Sunday. I’m getting tired of Laohukou because I think it’s way over-rated. Dasi Old Streets is way better and Dasi seems to retain more of the authentic flavor than Laohukou. Nevertheless, Laohukou is nearby, so off we went after a Sunday morning pancake breakfast.

Perfect Pancake
This is the only food photo for this article. I suggested that Hui-chen try using the teppanyaki pan because it’s very easy to control and it should make perfect pancakes. The results speak for themselves. The batter features Bushman’s Secret Ingredient that makes the pancakes light and fluffy. Anyone care to guess what that might be?

Continuing with our series on Hong Kong, our walking tour takes us to the fish market. Unlike the fish markets in Taiwan that we’ve blogged on many times, this fish market sells pet fish. The variety is unbelievable!

Hong Kong Street Market
Just around the corner from the Bird Garden (see the Geotagged Articles Map page to see exactly where) is one of the coolest street markets in the world. There is the famous Ladies’ Market, and also sections for sporting goods, electronics, and as shown above, general merchandise, mostly clothing.
