Photos by MJ Klein Warning: FOOD PHOTOS!
As you may recall from our last trip to Thailand, we showed you this area where you can find lots of street food:
This time we’re going to visit each and every food stall and show you they’re preparing.
I’m going to let the photos speak for themselves, with occasional commentary. Unless otherwise stated, there is one photo for each food stall.
These are coconuts, carved into this shape for looks and convenience (lighter weight).
While it may be difficult to order food in many Thai places, these noodle shops are almost the same as they are in Taiwan.
That’s duck on the far left, and everything else is chicken. I got a dish of duck here, and this is what it looks like:
Covered with a light sauce, plus a dipping sauce, this duck wasn’t what I was expecting but it was quite good.
I ordered some Pad Thai from this lady.
This is the dish. Nice and smelly with the local fish sauce. Great Isaan version of this dish.
The Pad Thai came with these condiments.
This is the grill stall. This is what he does below.
We bought some “mu s-tick” (pork on a stick) from this stall, and here it is:
Served with a peanutty sate sauce these pork sticks were great.
This pancake stall is the newest one on the block.
We hope you enjoyed visiting the street food stalls with us. Khonkaen is a fun place with lots of interesting places to eat.
Our last installment is coming up soon and it will be a “This Week in Food” from Thailand!
Thanks for reading. We look forward to your comments and ratings below.
Looking at all that food is torture. It looks great. Excellent coverage MJ and Hui-chen.

Craig, hope you weren’t reading at night! i know you would have enjoyed visiting that area with us. take care.
I actually had some food in the oven cooking while I was reading it. That probably made things worse – I could smell my dinner cooking.
