Hui-chen and I have been busy – busier than usual, even for us! We went on a whirlwind trip to China and Hong Kong for 3 days. I apologize for any inconvenience but there won’t be any Bushman’s Picks this week because of our busy schedule.
Let me show you a couple of photos from our trip. Of course we’re going to do some feature articles later.

We visited a bicycle factory that makes more than 6,000,000 units per year.

And we walked around one of our favorite cities, Hong Kong (photo taken from Kowloon).
Yes, of course we did shopping too.
See you next week!

What were you thinking?

Hui-chen and I have been very busy traveling lately. We’ve been in Kaohsiung (to name one place) and I took some shots from a 12th floor window. It’s been awhile since I posted some city shots and these in particular are interesting because of the altitude. So, here goes:

It seems that nearly every house has some kind of illegal addition to the top floor to create another room. Personally, I prefer the open roof space.

Does this mean that if you stay in this motel, you’ll be some kind of movie star? I sure hope not! I like the look of this ad. We may go check this place out sometime.

Today’s featured park is located in Taoyuan City. Called Jing Gou (Ching Kou) Environment Protection Park, this small triangular shaped park looked a lot better on the map than it did when I got there.

Today’s article is about a little park called Jong Shing Park (like Fushing) and it’s located in Shin Fong.

I found this to be a delightful little park, right in the middle of an urban area.

Land is at a premium in Taiwan. City planners put parks in virtually any small lot they can use for that purpose as opposed to the giant parks that exist in other countries where land is plentiful. I’ve always appreciated these mini, and sometimes, micro parks and over the new days and weeks I will introduce you to some of them. They can be a fun, almost private place where you can relax and enjoy the wonderful weather we have in Taiwan.

The weather has been lousy in Taiwan recently. We’ve had a few typhoon near misses and the Montreal Express has pulled into the station (that’s New England slang for “the cold air mass has come down from the north“). It’s definitely colder here than it was even last week. So I thought I should combat those weather blues, with green:

Green Island! This stunningly beautiful island off of Taiwan’s southeast coast is extremely hot in the summertime. It’s well worth a visit to this amazing tropical paradise.
