Goodbye Oath!

Mr. Oath from the Fong Band left Taiwan today.  He went back to Thailand after 8 years in Taiwan.  It’s the end of an era for me, as everyone connected with the Fong Band is now gone.  Plans for recording an album have now shifted to Thailand.

Thai Rock & Roll, Philippine Karaoke

This is the Fong Band at the SE Asian Music Fest.  Oath is hidden behind the female host, but (L to R) Num, A-nune and A-jo (drums) are all gone from Taiwan now.

This is A-nune (L to R), A-chen (Shao-hui’s husband), Khum and I at the SE Asian Music Fest.  I’m the only one left in Taiwan now.

Hanging With Joe and Oath

This is one of my favorite photos of Oath (R), seen here with A-jo.

We threw a small party for Oath before he left.  One of the sad things about the party is that his brother A-nune left some time ago, and all the other members of the Fong Band are gone, as well as many of his friends.  So it was just us.

Goodbye Oath!

Oath thanked everyone for coming to his party.

Goodbye Oath!

I brought my acoustic guitar so Oath could play some of his new songs for us.  He’s quite a brilliant songwriter.

Goodbye Oath!

This guy was too much!  He saw Oath playing guitar and came over.  He kept saying “Play something loud.  It doesn’t matter if it’s good or not.  Just play it loud.”  It was so funny!  We kept saying that over and over for the rest of the evening.

Goodbye Oath!

A couple of local Thai guys came by to say goodbye.

Here are some shots of Oath with the Fong Band and Blue Sky Band:

MJ, I know you have been working with the band not only as a musician but also as an advisor or the recording engineer. I remember the confidence you have in the band Fong and I do hope the recording is finished and released. It is also good they are all in Thailand as it means you will have to travel here.

I will definately come and visit you :)
