Today we are very happy to bring you a guest article by Carrie Marshall, of My Several Worlds. Quite frankly this is a little embarassing for us, but we’re going to run this story as-written because Carrie and John are such good friends. So please join us in welcoming Carrie as one of our guest authors!
Here is Carrie’s article:
The time has come for me to write a guest article for MJ, and I could think of no better time to do so with their next trip looming just around the corner.
I admit, I’ve been putting this article off for ages and have been a bit intimidated by the thought of writing a guest article for someone I admire so much. In particular, I’ve been worried about what I could possibly offer MJ’s readers. After all, I started reading ‘The New Hampshire Bushman’ because our interests are so similar. We are passionate about the same things: travel, photography, music and food.
As MJ has included me on his weekly list of blog roundups several times, I’m sure you’re all somewhat familiar with My Several Worlds. In particular, I didn’t want to offer him another article that he could have written himself, nor did I feel it appropriate to present him with something you could find easily on my own site. I wanted to give him something a little different.
Last night it occurred to me that I don’t need to write anything fancy, instructive or informative. I can just speak from the heart. I started thinking about all the different stories and articles MJ has posted since he started blogging in 2005. Travel articles, cooking advice and mouth-watering recipes, geo-caching, photography, culture, living in Taiwan, sound-offs, photo captions, blogger meet-ups, link round-ups, videos, and trips down memory lane. Is there anything The Bushman doesn’t offer? And that’s when I realized how much I’ve learned from him and how much I look forward to seeing what he’s going to offer next. One of the things I like best about MJ is his willingness to switch things up. There’s never a dull moment if you’re hanging with The Bushman.
Part of what I love about blogging is the people I’ve met along the way. More importantly, these are the people who share your triumphs, your failures, your ups and your downs. They are the ones who offer support and encouragement when you need it most and are always the first there when you are ready to share your dreams and accomplishments. That is why I’m so fortunate to have MJ and Hui-chen for friends. Living abroad can, at times, be rough, but when you have friends who celebrate the good and help you through the bad, it makes it all the more worthwhile.
For those of you who are new to this site and to those of you who have followed for years, this is something you can all participate in. And, since MJ has just opened a new forum, what better way to get things up and rolling? As soon as this article is posted, I will be heading over to the forums to leave my responses. I encourage you all to go and take a look. While you’re at it, be sure to add your own thoughts and comments.

1. MJ’s article about The Most Amazing Day of His Life always comes to mind. http://www.thenhbushman.com/2007/10/29/the-most-amazing-day-of-my-life/
Sorry MJ….I’m a sucker for romance!
I also really enjoyed The Bushman’s series for professional travelers. Here’s the link for the first article in the series in case you missed it. http://www.thenhbushman.com/2007/12/12/dairy-of-a-professional-traveler-packing/#comment-1976
and his latest series on the 921 Memorial Park is awesome!
2. I like his Sound-Off posts and his memoirs. I always enjoy his photo essays. Honestly though, I read everything he posts.
3. John and I both wish we could have been around last year when MJ and Hui-Chen got married, but we’re awfully glad that they shared their special day with everyone online. Our most memorable meet up is definitely our first — Last year’s big blogger grill party at Shao-hui’s!
4. That meatball recipe has me salivating every time I think of it. It’s a three part series. Careful folks…..make sure you’re well fed before embarking on this little journey. http://www.thenhbushman.com/2007/12/05/homemade-meatballs-part-iii-the-reckoning/
5. This one is easy. His motto spells it out. “Good times with The Bushman.”
