Geotagged photos by MJ Klein
The afternoon after we saw the pandas, we went to this place, which they have translated “Sky of star moon.” Not exactly how I would have translated it, this place is for kids to enjoy some animals and a safe area in which to run around.
We paid the admission fee and headed into the main area.
On the way we passed these cute piglets. Phoenix has never seen piglets before, so naturally we had to show them to her.
Notice that someone has painted the piglets’ toenails a bright red.
Phoenix showed no fear, and wanted to touch them right away. If you’ve never had the pleasure of playing with baby pigs before, they are just adorable and completely harmless. A very good experience for small children.
We put Phoenix on the platform with the piglets and just let them interact with each other.
After a few minutes, it was time to move on.
These giant bears were almost too good to be true!
First order of business was food. This is the main dining area.
Of course, while Mommy was ordering food, Daddy was taking photos of Phoenix.
She’s trying to touch the camera while I’m shooting.
Phoenix thinks that every piece of equipment is a touch screen!
Here is my “beef roll.” Notice the size comparison with the fork.
There were some public bubble makers and tubs of soapy water nearby. Phoenix is playing her favorite game: “Catch The Bubble!”
There is a pond with fish, and some stepping stones, if you are so inclined.
We saw a mother pig nursing her piglets.
And some tortoises. I always like these guys. Notice the big one is eating some carrot pieces that one of the visitors threw into the pen. Also notice a little girl is holding out a fresh piece.
I didn’t get too close to these guys, knowing how they spit!
When the sky began to darken and threaten rain, we decided that it was time to go. We did have fun and we’d go there again next time we’re in the area.
