How to use this website:

Across the top of the page under the title are the following navigation buttons:

Home: The Main Blog Page Here you will see a listing of all the articles beginning with the latest article at the top. Most articles are excerpts - a photo and a few lines to introduce the article. You may scroll down and click on any article title to load that article. Or you may click on “Read the rest of this article” to view the entire article.

The entire website is searchable by entering text in the search box in the upper right sidebar and clicking on the “Search” button.

The entire site is indexed by Jiglu, an intelligent linking system that finds all related content by indexing keywords. A “Jiglu topic tag” text box will open when you hover your mouse over Jiglu links. Clicking on a Jiglu link will open an overlay window that will allow you to browse additional articles for continued reading on a particular topic.

Each article allows you to post a comment at the end. From the main page you can see links called “comments” for each article, and after that a number which indicates how many comments have been made on that article. Clicking on the comments link will allow you to read the comments for that particular article. You may subscribe to comments by checking the box. Unread comments have a gold icon next to them. Comments you have already seen will have a dark icon next to the author name. If a commenter is also a blogger you will see a link to their latest article at the end of their comment. You may subscribe to comment feeds for RSS readers.

Note to Internet Explorer Users:

The comment entry box may not properly display for you. The left side may be cut off. If you experience this, you may still leave a comment, although what you are typing won’t be visible until a number of letters have been entered and your text protrudes past the section that isn’t displaying properly. Other web browsers do not have this display problem.

All articles have a “ShareThis” link that makes it very easy to share the article with your friends via email or social networking sites. We encourage you to use the ShareThis link.

When viewing individual articles a “Printer Friendly Version” link is available. Use this link when printing our articles.

On the left sidebar is information about other articles (called “posts” in some places) latest comments, archives, and a list of other blogs of interest. Click around and see where the links take you.

Archives: An archive of past articles back to the beginning of the blog in 2005.

Geotagged Articles Map: This unique feature allows you to see where an article is about.

Many articles contain geotags, which provide location information in the form of a latitude and longitude. The number of websites that use geotags is growing every day, and you can find many of our geotagged articles on sites that feature geotagged articles. The main advantage of a geotagged artcile is that the geotags allow you to see the location on a map.

When the Geotagged Articles Map page loads, it will display the latest geotagged article. All articles that have geotags will show up on this map as balloons. Clicking on a balloon will show a small excerpt of the article. Clicking on the title of the article will load that article for you to read.

In the upper left hand corner of the map are controls. The arrows pan the map North, South, East and West. The “+” and “-” controls zoom the map in and out. In the bottom right hand corner of the map is a small overview map. This overview map can be clicked on to make larger moves. The overview map can also be collapsed by clicking on the down arrow on the bottom right corner.Remember that while most of our articles are about Taiwan, some of them are about other countries, too. Be sure to zoom around and have fun finding them.
