There was another place that I wanted to take Hui-chen.  We had seen this place on TLC in Taiwan, and Hui-chen expressed an interest in visiting there.  So, naturally I had to take her.  Where are we talking about?

It’s been some time since we went to Yong An and the famous fishing port, so Hui-chen and I decided to head up there for lunch.  Yong An has some of the best and freshest seafood in Taiwan.

The other day Hui-chen found a new tea shop (new to us, that is) in Jubei.  We decided to check it out.

We were very glad we did, because it’s a delightful place with a great menu, excellent quality food and drinks, and the staff are all good conversationalists (they put up with me talking their ears off!).

It’s been awhile since we’ve had a story about grillin’ good food, and also been awhile since we partied at Xiao-hui’s place!  So, the time has come for us to bring you this article and introduce you to our favorite BBQ sauce, Bootsy BBQ!  Bootsy BBQ is known as the “everything sauce” and it really is good for everything!

My long-time friend, Mr. Danny Brown is the man behind Bootsy BBQ, and he can be seen at the end of this recent article.  He has a real hit on his hands with this sauce and you’ll be seeing us talking about it as it makes it way from the US into Asia and beyond!  Bootsy BBQ is unlike anything you’ve seen or tried before and it’s not a tomato based product like most others.  Bootsy BBQ has a flavor all it’s own and once you’ve tried it, you’ll never go back to using ordinary sauces.

Boosty BBQ is an extremely versatile sauce that can be used many ways.  Here are 4 of them that I like:

1. Marinade:  As a marinade for meats, Bootsy BBQ is second to none.  It works fast too, so the great part about using Boosty BBQ is if you don’t have a lot of time, you can still get the flavor benefits from using Bootsy BBQ.  Even 30 minutes with Bootsy BBQ will make a huge difference.
2. Grilling Sauce: Bootsy BBQ is fantastic on the grill!  Just brush it on about 10 minutes before your meat is done, on both sides.
3. Finishing Sauce: If you’re a real smoke-blower, you’ll love Bootsy BBQ as a finishing sauce.  The flavor of Bootsy BBQ compliments smoked food so well that you’ll wonder how you ever got along without it!
4. Dipping Sauce: Bootsy BBQ is unbelievable as a dipping sauce!  It’s also great for vegetables too!

Part of the 2010 USA Trip Series

UPDATE: Hui-chen reminded me that I forgot to include a photo taken on the way into Salem.  It’s now at the very end of this article.

Hui-chen wanted to see more of Salem, as it certainly is a beautiful and remarkably clean city.  I used to live in Lynn, just to the south, and certainly I’d been to Salem many times, but I had never explored it in any detail.  This photo essay is not intended to be a review of the city of Salem, but rather an account of some of the things we saw and did.  As usual you can go here to learn more about Salem.   We have about 50 photos to show you in this account, and if you’d like to view them at our Flickr.com account, you may find them here.

We took one of these sight-seeing trolley tours.  The tour was extremely informative, with much more information than we ever could remember, unfortunately!  We recommend one of these tours because you get to see the best of the city with a knowledgeable guide.

Good friend and blogger, Andre, recently purchased a new vehicle.  The one he chose is awesome, utilizing technology to solve many driving issues.  He bought the Luxgen SUV, which was designed and produced in Taiwan.  Not intending to be a review of the vehicle, here are some very cool things about it.  UPDATE: read about some of the Luxgen technology here.

This is what it looks like.  The SUV is robust and rugged looking, and it feels that way on the road too.  Let’s check out some of this cool technology:
