UPDATE: This article was missing the ride stats. I’ve added them at the bottom.
Today, I took the Artifice out for a ride to finish the route that I had started last week when I was rudely interrupted by 5 dogs coming out of a house to chase me.

This is a small bicycle trail between Sinfong and Yongan. It connects the 2 trails together.

A few days ago I took a ride on the trike. I left Hukou and traveled up to the Yong An fishing port area and then headed back down towards Hukou. The ride would have been somewhere around 43 KM, but it was cut short when no less than five dogs from a single house ran out to chase me. Since they were only about 3 meters behind me, I did a very fast stop. The brakes locked up. The rear wheel of the trike came off the ground. The dogs immediately lost interest and I continued on my way at very slow speed.
I was facing into a headwind, making about 9 or 10 KPH. Since I had been making speeds of about 15 ~ 17 KPH despite the headwind, I knew there was something wrong. I got off the trike and tipped it on it’s side.

I found that both front wheels were dragging, and the left front wheel was dragging very severely. I took the left front wheel off (as shown in the photograph) and tried to see what the cause of the problem was.

Recently, reader Danielle B. said:
“Do you realize your elephant is pooping? Are there by any chance any non-pooping elephants in your collection? Other than that the photography tour was fun, creative, and a beautiful collection of photography!”
Danielle, yes, we have several other, non-pooping elephants in our collection. I’ll show them to you right now!

This is the whole collection of hand carved wooden elephants from Thailand.

Today I wanted to further explore an area that I had visited about a week ago on the Sinfong (Hsinfong) coast.

In Taiwan, this is the symbol for a bicycle trail. When you see this symbol either embedded in the road surface such as this, or on a signpost, you know you’re on a bike trail. I’ve geotagged this article at the beginning of this “Bike Path” as it’s called on the tourist information sign.

Khonkaen has a market that is not visible from any street. If you don’t know where this market is, you may never end up visiting it.
The Hidden Market is found between blocks, in an area between the buildings. I had been to Khonkaen a dozen times before I stumbled across it.

Today I’m doing a new article called “Today’s Ride” followed by the date [YYMMDD]. I’ll use this format for any future articles about cycle riding. Rather than start a new series, I’ve added this article to the series “Riding” where I add anything cycling related.
I took a ride on the Yong An bicycle trail again, only this time I didn’t do my little 5KM circuit. I went to both ends (practical ends) of the trail and I took some photos to show you what it’s like. This time, the photos are taken from the trike, and not necessarily of the trike.

The only trike photo of the day, this shot shows the new Topeak bag/rack on the back. The end of the bag closest to the camera is the compartment where I keep the camera. It’s very convenient to have the camera with me when I’m out riding. One never knows what you might see, and today was no exception.

We visited our friend Peter who is living outside of Khonkaen city, in a small village to the north. We took a tuk-tuk from Khonkaen to the village which is about 10 KM away.
