Hui-chen and I are off on another adventure in Thailand. By the time you read this, we will already be there.  Of course we’ll have some new blog articles about our trip and you can be sure there will be plenty of photographs!

Now for today’s article.

We’ve all heard about visiting the large cities in China.  But have you ever wondered what it would be like to visit one of the more remote areas of China?  Recently we’ve been talking about our trip to Hegang which is in the Black Dragon Province of far northeastern China.  Hegang boasts a population of about one million people and yet it has a smaller town flavor about it.  Hegang is also way off the beaten track so the presence of foreigners in that town causes quite a stir sometimes.  In this article we’re going to show you what it’s like to go out for a night in this sleepy, coal-burning industrial town in the far northeast of China.

Food Photos by Hui-chen

Recently we brought you the story about Thai New Year in Taiwan.  Now we’re going to review the food that was seen and enjoyed during the holiday celebration!

This Week In Food, 0317

Taoyuan Stadium had a wealth of food available to celebrants of the holiday, and this is just the beginning!  We see sweet corn on the left and some kind of sweet confection on the right.

Trike Gets New Headrest Bracket

As some of you may recall, when I visited the Taipei Cycle Show, my friend Kevin Kao showed me a new bracket for the headrest on the Artifice recumbent trike.  I asked Kevin to send me a bracket so I could install one on my own Artifice.

Recumbent Trike Equipment Update

This photo illustrates the issue.  There is a quick release (QR) lever in the center of this photograph.  This QR is for unlocking the seat back for folding down.  There is a rectangular hole in the aluminum mounting bracket for clearance for the QR.  The hole isn’t large enough, and the headrest mounting bracket isn’t adjustable.

I apologize for the late blogging but I am quite sick, what with our heavy travel and performance schedules.  I seem to have picked up a flu virus, and I’m trying to recover.

UPDATE: Hui-chen helped me straighten out some of the confusion! Additions are in red type.

2009 Thai New Year, Part I

Our story begins in Taipei.  Here we see a competition dance team preparing themselves.  Notice the vertical sign in the background.  This is a cultural event for SE Asian workers here in Taiwan.

Thai New Year 2009, Part I

This is a preview of Part I of the Thai New Year 2009!  We had an incredible time!  There were dancing competitions, plenty of food and several fire hoses of water spraying the crowd right in front of the stage!

If you can possibly make it to Taoyuan Stadium tomorrow at 10:00 am, I promise you won’t be disappointed.  Last year there were more than 10,000 people in attendance.  It’s totally free and you will have a great time.

Hope to see you there!

Hui-chen and I went to China for a few days on a business trip.  We went through Hong Kong and up to the far northeast corner of China, in the Black Dragon Province.

Welcome To Beijing

We moblogged this photo from my mobile phone upon our arrival in Beijing.  We’ve been to Beijing before but only passing through.  On this trip we finally got to leave the airport and experience a tiny taste of Beijing.
