Continuing with our series on the premier of the new movie Detours to Paradise, we will bring you….

Taipei Premier

Detours to Paradise, Part II [1]

On Sunday we headed up to Taipei Main Station to perform the second premier show.

Detours to Paradise [2]

Our day began at the Blue Sky restaurant, where we spent a few hours rehearsing some new songs for the show later in the day.

Of course, where was delicious Thai food in attendance!

Detours to Paradise, Part II [4]

I should say plenty of delicious Thai food!

After lunch we rehearsed for awhile longer and then packed up for Taipei.

This was the scene outside the station.

Quite a nice sized crowd had gathered to watch the show.

A few technical adjustments and we were ready to go on!

Here we are on the opening song.

Many people preferred to listen from back near the station.

This is Peter, the other guitar player for the Blue Sky band.  Peter is really good.

We had literally hundreds of adoring fans fawning over us.  Actually, the audience is reaching for some coupons for free phone cards that had been thrown from the stage.

The Blue Sky band played 3 songs and then they brought the actors from the movie onstage.

The 2 people in the center are the actors from the movie (and from the previous article [24]).  The gentleman on the right is an Indonesian translator for the female lead actor.

The crowd was largely Indonesian and they went wild over the female lead actor from their home country.

The band went back onstage for the second part of the show.  This is Mr. Oath, singing the famous Taiwanese song “Shao Wei.”  What’s notable is that Mr. Oath is Thai and is singing in Chinese.

He did a fantastic job with the song.

We ended our show with a rousing song and then ran off the stage ASAP.

The line went on for some distance.

In the meantime we went around to the back of the stage to relax.  Several fans wanted to have their photos taken with the band and we were just too happy to do that for them.

Hey,

I wanted to come out. My daughter was in the hospital, so it wasn’t going to happen. Keep me posted on the next time you’ll play.

Wow, wish we made it! We were in Taipei for the photo club meet but that wrapped up too late to make it to the show. How much for one of those Blue Sky shirts?

That looked like a great day MJ. I wish I could hear you ripping into one of the solos. Thanks for sharing mate.

What does it feel like to have groupies yelling out for you? I have never experienced that.. Wish I was in a band 🙂

Looks like a great event. I thought all those people must have been lining up for your autograph!

Detours to Paradise also looks like a very interesting movie that will certainly raise some important issues and discussion in Taiwan.

Cool. I’m shooting the Rock N Roll Circus at VU on the night of the 14th so as long as the gig on the 15th is not too early I should be able to make it.

Craig, the schedule says “15:00 – 17:00” and there is supposed to be a live demonstration of Thai cooking. should make for some interesting photos!

You guys are certified rock stars with all the women screaming and tussling!!!

I’m assuming Hui-Chen took the photos while you were playing on stage… let me just say GREAT JOB!

Andres, i would agree with you (about the female fans) only if they were screaming and tussling over us! that was all about the free mobile phone and phone cards that they were giving away! several female fans did ask to have photos taken with us after the show though. but there was no screaming, lol.
