Voucher Fever
Recently, the Taiwanese government gave NT$3,600 worth of shopping vouchers to citizens and qualified residents. While my own personal experience with receiving the vouchers was rather unremarkable (with only 2 people saying anything to me while I was in line, and both times in “English”), there have been several noteworthy events in the news concerning the vouchers. Here is a list of them:
Stories From My Past: The Studio Session
Many of my friends know that I’ve spent years in the recording studio as an engineer, producer, recording artist and backup musician. I was often called in to do some support work, such as background vocals, handclaps and so forth, on visiting artist’s recordings. This story is about one of those times….
Weather Has Finally Broken A Bit….
Hui-chen and I have been under the weather lately but now that it’s considerably warmer, we’re going to try to get out and do some interesting things for you to read about!
Hukou Old Street, Revisited

Blogger Andres and his lovely wife Karen visited us recently, bringing along superbaby Olivia of course. Since they had never been to the Hukou Old Street area before, we decided to show them around.

Readers of our blog sometimes complain to us privately that when they travel, they are disappointed with their photographs. Then, they usually ask me for some advice on which camera they should buy so they can take better photographs. I tell them that they can take better photographs right now, with what they are currently using.
People mistakenly blame the camera for bad photographs. That’s like going to a piano bar, and blaming the piano for a poor rendition of your favorite song. It’s all about how you use it. I’m going to give you my tips and tricks in 3 areas that will help you take better photographs, now without buying anything else! Let’s get into it right now!

The Daily Bubble Tea – For Two!
We had the pleasure of attending the wedding of Cathy and Todd, of The Daily Bubble Tea fame, on Saturday, in quaint Nantou. It was like a blogger meetup! I didn’t take so many photos of the events as I chose to sit back and enjoy them. But, I did take photos of the dishes so you could enjoy them!
We were among the first to arrive, and the setting was just lovely.

We’ve been experiencing connectivity problems with our blog server, so please forgive the posting infrequency of late.
We decided to head over to Hsinchu City to a place we’d heard about in the Sogo Department Store. It turned out to be a good decision.
First course out of the kitchen was these bao-zhe. A bit different and very tasty.
